Additional Joy of Cooking: 75th Anniversary Edition - 2006 Information

When the last edition of the Joy of Cooking appeared in 1997, it was a chef-centric, rarified global ingredient kind of moment. And now, 1997 seems very far away. This country is in an economically wobbly, terror-filled time where Americans have kept close to home both literally and figuratively. The 75th Anniversary Edition of the Joy of Cooking -- as it has always done -- speaks to the time it is published into. This Joy has come full circle from 1997 with a huge emphasis on American home cooking. We are not chasing the authentic Oaxacan enchilada here -- we have cheese, chicken, and beef. We have returned the casserole; included slow cooker recipes; restored chapters on jams, jellies, pickles, ice cream, and drinks. There is an eye to economy with expanded discussions on how to get the best out of tougher cuts of meat; the art of leftovers; and keeping household stock. With 500 completely new recipes and hundreds of recipes long edited out of previous editions, this is a brand-new, best-loved Joy of Cooking that rejoices in the cooking of the country that made it the bestselling cookbook of all time -- America.

What Customers Say About Joy of Cooking: 75th Anniversary Edition - 2006:

This is the best cookbook I have ever owned. My brother gave me my 1st book in 1972 and I wanted an updated version. It is my go-to help for just about everything. I would recommend it to everyone who wants a comprehensive help in cooking and preparation as well as excellent recipies.

Cooking is my wife's hobby - & she loves being in her kitchen. She asked for this book as a birthday gift and is absolutely thrilled with it. It's not a recipe book, it's an education in food. When looking for a recipe, it provides background on the food, its preparation, its nutritional value, its consumption, and alternatives about it.She's learned so much about various foods that she hasn't even prepared or served and finds the reading so informational and interesting that it's become her learning pastime as well as her cooking resource.

No one w/ a kitchen should be without this book. This is it. the kitchen bible. or at least an earlier issue. There really is nothing more to say.

I wanted this newer version for quite awhile. I love my old Joy of Cooking. It is the bible of cookbooks in my opinion. I am very, very pleased that I got it, especially at a great price. I'm sure it will get used as much as my old edition.

My first cookbook from Rombauer and Baker was purchased in the 70's and this is the most wonderful addition to my cooking library. The purchasing experience was terrific. Will be looking for this provider in the future.
